I will tell you what I have:

60MHz Tektronix Scope
+-30 V 3 A Power Supply
3MHz Function Generator
DMM

I wouldn't mind a distortion meter of some sorts and a noise meter.

Checkout the many freeware spectrum analyzers (AnalFreq, Spectran) and use your soundcard 🙂

how do you test the distortions and the characteristicals of your amp( or pre) ?

Does anyone know about Otala's Test to evaluate the distortion?
i was searching for some informations about this but i couldn't find anything.

what program do you use for the spec analisys?

if anyone else got other material about the distortions analisys, i would like, if possible, to read it.

I'm on Linux, so I use japa or jaaa. You can use AnalFreq on Windows with WinISD as your generator, or one of the far-too-many Winamp sig gen plugins.
