I just received about 450 email notifications of a new message
in the DIY Distortion Analyzer/Analysis? thread.
I trust this problem will be vanquished with the usual vigor.

Lucky you. I've just hit 5000.
I'm *really hoping* that the flood should have ceased at this point. No idea why this has happened.
Now do you want to tell me how to clear the bloody things? My ISP has failed to do it twice now, and I'll be stuffed if I'm going to sit here for hours and do them individually.AudioFreak said:I'm *really hoping* that the flood should have ceased at this point. No idea why this has happened.
test user said:what email client are you using? you can probably set a quick little filter to do it for you.
Pegasus
thanks
Those posts from 'test user' above are mine. I had to test if the problem is fixed. I'll go work out how to mass delete in pegasus. The problem is indeed fixed. I still dont know what caused the problem tho 🙄
Brett, you can click the 'select' button then 'by address' and enter 'webmaster@diyaudio.com' and it will select everything from diyaudio. You can then delete them all at once.
Using Outlook
I was getting 500 email notices every time Frank or Steve posted on the "The importance of proper setup and vibrations control" thread. I finally had to unsubscribe to the thread after deleting a couple thousand emails.
That'll teach me to try and follow those two guy.

I'm still getting about 20 copies of the same message I did earlier today, every time my email client does a loop through my addy's to the one I use for here, which is every 15 mins or so.

it may well be that a heap of them were backed up at some point along the way to your computer and they are only getting thru to you now ... It would appear that they are no longer being sent from the server. I think it'll be a few days before we really find out what caused this and what the dire effects have been. Hopefully it wont put bandwidth usage thru the roof and even more so, I hope that we have not been blacklisted for unintentional spam.

I received over a thousand messages flagging that Morse has replied to the "Which components" thread. It took a long time to detete them. However, having read your reply to Brett, I now know what a filter is for...

I would just like to take a moment to thank you all for being so understanding of the situation. Luckily I was online when it started and I was able to immediately contact Jason the owner. This whole matter was left to it's own devices for under 10 minutes and it has caused quite a few problems. Like I said, thanks for the understanding. Once it got started, it was running an infinite loop so I just had to let it time out and make sure no further new requests were made until the problem was fixed.
Thanks heaps for your help. It's appreciated.
I'm glad you were able to stop it promptly and that it was only looping on one thread message. That one filled my mailbox to capacity all by itself, so I'm glad it didn't happen on all subscribed threads.
No more old emails in an hour or so.

I got only 1024 messages.
I was a bit worried that SE and Frank had really gone for it this time.
Jason et al - so who gets the DCM ?. 😱
Eric.
