Hi
The bass unit in one of my Eltax Titanium 1.3 floorstanders is blown. I'm looking for a suitable driver unit to replace it. I've contacted Eltax and they no longer carry spares for these speakers. So far I've found monacor units which might be suitable, but the power handling is only 80 and the speakers are originally rated at 90w. Also I've seen some peerless units at the lower end of the price spectrum...
It's an 8ohm speaker, rated at 90w. 185mm driver and I've got a 150mm hole in the cabinet.
I'm no expert in this area, I've seen too many comments about cabinet volumes and specifications that I don't understand, so I've come to realise I could probably make a worse sound than I'm getting now if I put the wrong driver in.
Oh - and I suppose I'm going to need to replace the driver in the good speaker too?
Grateful for any suggestions/advice.
Nick

It's a 3 way, so frequency response at the top end is likely not an issue. Physical fitment is probably your main concern. Wattage is also a minor thing and in the same ballpark is good.
So if you find something that fits and is probably a similar rubber surround with similar wattage, your probably good to go considering the low cost of the Eltax brand.
If you can get the resonance, efficiency and other parameters of the existing units, we can suggest a closest alternative and what if anything to tweak on the crossover or reflex port.
I'd say if it fits and is of similar construction, that may well be good enough if you are on a minimum budget.
