About every other order I place with Electronic Goldmine, I get their "Box of Caps", which can have just about anything. The assortments are different each time. The electrolytics included aren't usually anything to get me terribly excited, but the film caps can be very interesting - this time around, a bunch of polycarbonate caps. For some reason both the local surplus outlets and random purchases like the Electronic Goldmine boxes seem to be throwing a lot of polycarbonate caps my way, a lot of them 1% units. For some reason, the boxes have film caps and electrolytics, but no ceramics - maybe they save those for other assortments.
Have you tried using them? I used to prefer polycarbonate caps when I built my previous kit. Now its hard to find the ones I want, the wimp film/foil were very nice.
I couple of boxes back I was shipped a bunch of 64nF 1% polycarbonate caps made by EFC (Electronic Film Capacitors) I use these with some 22nF Wima polypropylene caps in RIAA designs. I also have scored a bunch of Rifa and Roederstein polycarbonate that I use as coupling caps.
