ok i know i can find programs that will do this for me and it's probably way over my head but i'm a nuts and bolts kinda guy who needs to know the hows and whys of it all
basically i'm writing a mathcad sheet for a *little* horn project i'm working on at the moment to do the sub bass for our sound system (12Kw so far with a 5K macrotech allocated for 20 to 50Hz)
i was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the maths involved in calculating the increase in spl a horn produces?
i don't need the chamber throat or mouth calculations just how a horn and its contour affects the level
forgive me if this has come up before and i missed it in my search
cheers
dave

horn + simple math wont be seen in the same sentance im afraid!
go to the 'melhuish' horn site, available in google.com
thats a start
then volvotreter.de .. go to DOWNLOAD section, and read the edgar files, and Dinsdale files,
then go to 'audioasylum.com' and search for 'basshorn theory' or similar...
which is why you need the program, cos the equations working in the backround are HUGELY COMPLICATED!i know i can find programs that will do this for me and it's probably way over my head
