This may not be int he right place, so just tell me where it moved to.
The EMu soundcard which is touted by those in the Full Range forum comes with a piece of software which is quite advanced.
My more general question is:
How can sound be normalized in real time for video files?
I have used a Sima Sound Stabilizer-- a littel box with an input and output to receiver. My reveiver is a Yamaha RPU100 USB unit which connects to the computer and has software for volume control and EQ.
It also has some DP effects which I hardly use (church environment which is real echoey etc.)
The Sima did not give any volume stabilization when plugged from the onboard audio of my motherboard (AC'3) to the Sima and out to the Yamaha.
Is there any combination of board and software that can normalize sound without rewriting the file playing in real time?
Normalization is sometimes referred to as midnight theater
so that loud and soft sounds can be heard just as well.

Normaliation = compression. For music it is easy, just use Foobar and a VST. With video it is surely possible, but you need to find the right software.
I have a program that will normalize the sound and rewrite it.
It's an option in a free program called Audiograbber (which I've used for years and bought before it went free and then ceased development.) Jackie Frank went out got a new job or something where there was a conflict with his AG development.
But what I'm wondering about is a current product that can
do it in real time like a home theater DSP option does.

I believe I already did that but I certainly don't know all of them, nor the knowledgeable from the chatters.
