It's premature for me to post, but I'm relieved that this thing fired right up after initial checks (listening to Classical Guitar Alive on it right now) so I'm here to say... Yay!
I'm on a serious vintage kick and recently bought some Dynaco stuff like the kits I built in college. The Stereo 80 had problems so I decided to gut it and turn it into a 4 ch surround amp. I had an Altronix 24v/175va trans and got another to go with it. These put out the V a bit high and seem to work well for this. I bought 2 sets of boards from China, each set having 2 amp boards and a rectifier-cap board with 4x 10000uf @ 50v. Maybe the 3886s are counterfeit, or the amp circuits sub-optimal, but the low prices invited me to play.
Jamming all this into the old 80 was a challenge. I have not yet investigated some grounding alternatives, and I'm not even using shielded cable for signal in, yet the hum level is already quite low.
The old amber neon light in the 80 is still alive, good for some warm fuzzies. The original top cage is quite rusty but for some reason I think it looks cool so it will stay that way for now.
I will post more pics and details as time permits...

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
