Can anyone explain how to obtain 24/96 output from DVD-V discs played in computer DVDRoms. I have a Pioneer 106s whuch is supposed to read everthing. When an audio DVD-V is inserted, I cannot get music played using Power DVD software or output. Why plaese?

Hello,
Did you check there's sound output on the headphone jack?
Some software also requires you to select the SP/DIF output in their setup as the source.
Cheers, 😉

The only application i know that plays DVD audio at 24/96 is
the Creative DVD-Audio player delivered with their Audigy 2
For copy protections the S/PDIF is deactivated during
playback.
Or am i wrong?

Hi,
This a classis problem with a lot of DVD software.
The last thing people think about is to activate the SP/DIFF output
in the setup of their software.
I'm using Intervideo 3.0 for movie playback and it works wonderfully.
You also should have all necessary codecs' installed for full compatibility.
To the best of my knowledge this is correct .
Find someone with a card like that and you can guess what you'll have to do.🙄
I didn't say nothin'😉

Maybe you right. My Pioneer 106s DVD Rom will output 16/44.1. But I acannot get anything on playing DVD at all from the SPDIF socket. Is this the protocol???

Hi,
Seems to be,yes.
Don't expect sound coming from the sp/diff socket though.
All I had to do is emulate it in software by checking the option in the setup.
Then you will hopefully get sound from the line output and the speaker jack.
Good luck,😉

I have just about checked everthing that can be checked. Any suggestions on how th emulate in software? A DVD player outputs spdif; so why should a CDRom compatible with DVDV not.
🙁
OBVIOUSLY.
fmak,
Sorry,of course it appears obvious to you once the problem is solved.
Excuse my arrogance on this, professional abuse I reckon.
Here goes: launch whatever program you're using to decode your DVD.
Look for settings, setup up or whatever similar.
Choose audio,replay,sound or whatever's related.
See if you can find anything related to SP/DIFF output.
Check that as your output.
If you don't get sound from the speakers now I'm at a dead end.
Only thing left is to contact your dealer and see what they come up with.
Good luck,😉
