hey guys....come across a DVD player that just doesnt wanna play ....first it starts with darker colored DVDs....blue, purple...then it gets to where it wont read the gold CD cleaner..then finally reads nothing.
its a JVC, looks pretty solid. (this was a garbage pick by the way lol) i got it to read a CD a little...took it apart cleaned it up, worked better..
i know theres ways of focusing the laser? i would only assume thats the issue, since we've had many DVD players, RCA CD players get the same exact symptoms, and after taking it to a repair shop, its ready the next day and the problem eventually reoccurs years later.
Just wondering, my whole basement entertainment center is garbage picked. its nothing fancy, but for killing an evening with friends.
and for laughs, heres what ive scored for my basement:
Got a 42" Pioneer RPTV (just had to clean the lenses/mirror, from 1990)
10CD Sanyo CD player (missing tape doors and remote....tapes and CD all function)
BIG 70's speakers, sound GREAT.
28" Stereo Zenith TV. nothing wrong! used remote from old one.
thanks in advance

Cheers Buddy, I hear ya...
My basement has free (most of the free was gotten on trash day, and by luck too..)
41" Sony RPTV, 1992 (had to do some converging)
6 PAIRs of big, well working speakers, including a pair from the 70s, Sansui speakers with replacement woofers, that I also got for free...
CD Player, and Sony 2deck tape player, no problems from the start.
27" sony tv, sound dead, cable jack broken, but works well as a video display.
Sony Amplfied speaker with built in sub and dolby prologic reciver.
And the list goes on...
Long like people that dont value some things and "pass them down" to me.
(oh and some of this stuff, mosly speakers, were found by others and given to me free...)
Cheers
😀
Alex
Hah, i wonder if any others have scored anything like this?
On the topic of scavenging, if i scored some lenses from an RPTV, could i use them in a DIY projector? The weather just got good and so did the picken's
