After going through some of the threads here I am is wondering what can a phase plug do to a fullrange driver. The Lowther plug seems to work with those small holes.
1. Has anyone know the principle behind this?
This interest in plugs all came about when my dust cap for one of my Axiom301 just came off. Looking at the almost two inch diameter metal in the middle where the cap was covering I began to wonder if the principle of the Lowther plug can improve matters.
By the way I did not glue the cap back because I wanted some kind of glue that I can easily remove the cap again just in case I want to experiment on the plugs.
2. What type of glue can I use so that I can still easily remove the cap without cutting as I don't think I can find those type of caps again?
Thanks in advance

Hi there: Information on phase plugs can be found on planet_10 hifi click on phase plugs. Dave also supplies some phase plugs. ...regards, Michael
No 2" ones!
Start by playing with a piece of dowel. Doesn't need to be shaped to start out.
Some steel screws in the base of the phase plugs (probably 4 for one that big), so that it sticks to the pole piece and is removable.

Search this forum for phase plugs. There were some threads about it and what was achieved.
Planet10's screw idea is good. Don't use very large screws as they will stick very hard and you might have difficulty taking them off.
If you do not use the driver quite high up in frequency you may not hear any difference I think. Let us know what happens.
To glue back the dust cap you can use rubber based glue which comes in tubes from any hardware store. That can be dissolved with simple solvents ( Amyl acetate , acetone, NC paint thinner etc.) to remove the dust cap again if you wanted to.
Edit:... Just scroll down this page and you will see some older threads listed at the bottom !
