Does anyone know what sort of main bearing was fitted to the Dual CS505 turntable. Many moons ago while kicking my heels in a Naval Workshop, I made a replacement platter for my 505. This weighed nearly 3Kg compared with the standard 1Kg. I never used it because I was concerned that the bearing would not be suitable for this weight. However, I have now got the Dual down from the loft as I intend using it for a second system. The question is, could using the heavy platter for any length of time damage the main bearing?
