I just scored a very nice (clean and working) Dual CS 714Q TT. My major concern for bringing the table back into everyday playing condition is the tonearm. Because head shell parts no longer exist, or are $$$$$ if they CAN be found, I was wondering if an after market replacement arm can be substituted for the stock version?

Do you mean the headshell adapter plate for mounting standard cartridges with 1/2" centres? If so you are quite right that they are as rare as hens teeth.
I'm quite certain that the turntable was originally supplied with low mass Dual cartridge with a non-standard mount and I assume that it's missing. These turn up on eBay from time to time.
Replacing the tonearm is a no-no 😕
Hey activexp
just had a look at your website i am Definitely convinced i was born in the wrong era. Just looking at those photos of all the old gear you used to sell is amazing!
Thankyou for showing exactly how it was back then, nothing like it is when you go into a hifi shop today.

@activexp. Yes, that's correct. I am missing an adapter plate with 1/2 inch centers. Short of finding one I will be forced to use a very limited array of cartridges. That can't be all bad as a backup (2nd system). I will be using a vintage Thorens for my go-to music room setup.
