DSL TH115 .. Thoughts on design "type"?

Hi.

I have seen quite a few attempts on "copying" the TH115/TH118 and therefore a lot of different ideas to how it might look like on the inside.

Now i just stumbled upon this on speakerplans.com
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I have no idea if this really is the inside of an actual TH115, but it doesn't look like any other TH designs iv'e seen so far. What are your thoughts on this design style?

Definitely an interesting approach as i see it.

Hi Chaps,

I did this one only as a guess/exercise. It was an attempt to use the same split design that Danley used-in the DTS-20/patent design-on a speaker with the external limits of the TH115. The speaker is mounted on a spacer/mounting baffle with a distict throat chamber. The fold in the throat area maximizes the use of internal space, reduces L12 to a minimum, and provides a less squashed (more square?) cross-section in the throat section. I never spend the time to optimize the internals. While I still consider it a valid approach, it is so much more difficult to build than the more common folds, that I only recommend it to accomplished carpenters.

Regards,
