Hello everyone, don't assume from the subject question that I'm a total idiot, just assume I'm an ignorant moron. LOL! But seriously I bought a cheap 7.2" LCD from ebay and it is a widescreen aspect. It's made for cars but what I need to know is if the resolution matters? The resolution for this thing is 230x400 which I don't think is a normal resolution or it could be normal for widescreen. I'm very confused??? I want to know if this resolution can be used for projection? I'm am only going to use this LCD for games and DVD's not for a computer screen. by the way here is the link to the LCD: LCD Screen
Also does anyone know if this is easy to disassemble?

First of all, it will not work for projection because it is a STN LCD, as opposed to TFT. Secondly, the resolution will not suffice. It is not near enough pixles needed to make for an enjoyabe viewing experience. The least you'd ever want to go is 640 by 480. You can get a prjection panel on ebay with this resolution for about 100 bucks on ebay. I suggest you eithet save your money longer and get a good monitor, or get a used projection panel, and strip it down and make a custom built projector.
Take care.

Thanks for the reply !
Thanks for the quick reply I wish I wouldve known that sooner. Well I guess I'll just use it for what it was made for, my car. Well that's a lesson learned.

Hey I found a site!
Can't remember the address but it says that STN LCD's have a resolution of 960x240 well mine anyway.

960/3 = 320
320x240
You can find fair 640x480 panels on ebay for around $20 occasionally. Paid $25 or so for my first, a Datashow AV. Decent panel although a bit bulky.

Mccamp's post pretty much sums it up. You "can" get away with a 480x234 TFT lcd if it's only for tv and movies, but not for use with a computer. More reasons why STN is no good, very poor response time, terrible contrast, washed out color. It's just that STN is a very old technology, like the screens on say an old 386 laptop.

I have been looking at installing a pr of monitors into the rear of my car. I have seen these screens on E-bay and wonder if they are any good for an in car dvd player. I’m staring to think they may not be no good...

gaz100uk,
Those monitors should work just fine in the rear of your car for DVD viewing.
Just don't try to make a super big screen projector out of them.
