DOD true bypass?

So I got this old DOD bass compressor. It gives nice dirty tone (not that it's supposed to, but I like it anyway) but the bypass also sucks.

The switch looks more like a button than on-off. So there may be some nasty things like CMOS switches..

How do I convert it to true bypass? Did a couple of searches on Google with no results. Anyone has similar experience?

Just use a DPDT throw mechanical switch, and bypass it entirely.
