Handel Zadok the Priest. Saw that being performed when I was 9. The crescendo when over 100 voices suddenly come in is something else.
Adele live at the Royal Albert Hall singing "Someone Like You". 5000 people singing along, amazing! Music doesn't give me goosebumps often, but this one does it in spades.
It's called frisson. Frisson - Wikipedia
Also, the book, Sweet Anticipation, goes into detail about what it is in music that tends to produce frission. Sweet Anticipation: Music and the Psychology of Expectation (Bradford Books): David Huron: 9780262083454: Amazon.com: Books

To avoid namedropping, I will realease my list little by little.
Was camping with my fawks 1968 or 69. Sitting on a rock by the sound between Kalmar (Sw town in the SE) and the island of Öland, listening to the daily 1-hour rockprogram (back then not much modern music for kids were played on the radio) while listening to the transistor next to me watching the sun go down and color the heaven red, yellow and orange.
And with this amazing scenery I heard King Crimson's Epitaph.
Megagoosebumps .... an experience like that can make anyone religious.

Funny,
I didn't start this to have people list the songs, but to comment on the article.
So yet another example where posters respond to the thread title without reading the original post 😀
Good luck with that, Weldon. Brain science articles don't get much traction on this forum. Too much solder sniffing, I suppose.I didn't start this to have people list the songs, but to comment on the article.

It was an interesting article. I can anecdotally confirm that I do get goosebumps with certain performances and I also tend to be quite an emotional being 🙂
Tony.
Tony.
Err, isn't that what music is for? To elicit an emotional response? Presumably the GB effect is special in some way? Or do only special brains get it? Smells of elitism
