Some questions about DMDs (keeping in mind possibility to build DIY DLP 🙂)
1. Where buy these chips? (is it possible for a person not a big firm)
2. Do they all have the same interface phisical(100-pin)/logical?
3. Controller chips or controller boards?
I'll be glad to here any info 🙂

DIY DLP? No way...
There are really too many miniature and proprietary components involved in a DLP projector to allow it to become true DIY. Best anyone could hope for is to pick up a DLP at auction or salvage and either resurrect it or have it work out of the box.
DMD, color wheel, lenses, prisms (if it uses one)... not the kind of somethings you can find off the shelf at Radio Shack.

DLP's are very very very nice, if you've ever seen the output from one, but the lamp modules cost a couple hundred to a few hundred $$$ a pop to replace. Considering that's how much some of us have paid for our entire projectors, that's really only an option for those that can afford it.

somethings are simply not diy. im amazed that you cant see how difficult it would be to create a diy dlp projector. making an lcd projector is bad enough.
what you want to do will be impossible. to much work, adjusting, time, MONEY. remeber you will need a controller board for that dmd chip. you figure $5.00 is great for the chip but the controller will cost you hundreds (over $400.00) or more. then the lamp, then the color wheel asembly, then you have to sinc it all up to work correctly or you will have a rainbow projector.
Note:
You dont even know if you will get a good chip. --> "These assemblies may have slight scratches and or slight problems as listed on some of them by the QC Dept. We have no info on these and no way of testing them so we are selling them "AS IS" no returns. The original cost was hundreds of dollars each. G13751"
single chip dlp dont use prizms. prizms are for units that have 3 panels inside (RGB)
the reason everyone is working with lcds is because of the simplicity behind it. shine a light through a lcd panel and you will get a picture no matter what. then its just a matter of adjusting for a better image.

buy the stuff, try it and tell us what happens!😎
If i was rich id buy all sorts of stuff even with no hope of having it all come together, id buy just cause these guys told me not to!
seriously, id bet even if you got it to work it would cost way more than a simple entry-level low-res like the infocus x-1.
But if you did build a 3-chip DLP! 😱 , man you'd be the idol of the board lol

Getting behind the times
I work at TI and we test the DMD devices sometimes (while still in wafer form). And let me tell you those things are supposed to be our big bad product and they still make those things on 8" wafers....you can only fit like maybe 25 on there. Can't wait to see 12" DMD...and ya they look like mirrors in raw form.
