I've been searching around the internet and these forums, and I can't seem to find a straight answer. I'm a bit of a noob at this lens and optics stuff, so maybe the answer is right in front of me and I just can't recognise it.
I have to replace the lens on my Proxima DP1000x, it's a DLP projector. The specs I have in the manual for the type of lens are: 1.3 Zoom Ratio. f = 26- 33 mm. F /2.0-F/2.2. Distance : Width 1.85:1 - 2.35:1. Projection Distance 4.9 - 32.8 feet.
The real question I have is how much does it matter what kind of lens I get? Are some lens specifically made for LCD projectors that wouldn't work with a DLP projector? I know the basics of how an LCD projector works vs a DLP projector, but I haven't got a clue if the lens are different or if any lens will work as long as it will focus for me at my desired throw distance and screen size. Can someone help me out or at least steer me in the right direction?
I don't want to buy a new lens for it only to find out it will never focus my picture correctly or screws up the lighting or something. Thank you!

That sounds more like the specs of an anamorphic lens rather than a sperical lens...BGrahambo said:I have to replace the lens on my Proxima DP1000x, it's a DLP projector.
