Just finished refurbishing my dad's pre/power amps and am hooked 🙂
For my next project I would like to build a pre/power amp combo, starting with a preamp. There are so many options that I am getting a bit lost. Can anyone recommend a preamp build with the following criteria:
1. transistor-based (not valve) and class A, obviously
2. no phono stage, tape monitors etc
3. bass and treble controls
4. preferably sonically compatible with a good class A/B power amp
5. good/high quality
Many thanks!

is there a particular reason for why you preffer transistors treating a line level signal instead of op-amps?
No, there is no reason. Op-amps are fine too. Sorry, am new to terminology... I just want to avoid tubes.
I replaced the *crappy* TA7136p ic with tubes in the preamp / tone section and it is what made it outstanding.
