I had an idea last night as I was searching for amplification sources for my Epi 1000. I've taken on the hobby of restoring gear. Just a personal hobby.
I've a question for those more tech minded, and experienced, than myself. I was looking at monoblock amps 300wpc plus like JRDG 7, Krell MDA etc. in the $5k+ range however I came up with an idea after seeing a vintage stereo amp on the used, with particularly good ratings for decent money with stereo-mono switching. In mono, the specs place it around 350wpc.
My question, is this, can these vintage amps that are switched mono be totally modded to solely run as committed monoblocks? I guess I'm getting at modding the internals for full power to mono with all the stereo: plugs, connections, inputs, outputs internally/externally taken out for simple mono? One input and one output or would this sort of idea be too costly and too much of a pain in the .....
Thanks and best...
