Hello,

Could you share most popular DIY class AB solid state amplifiers list for diyers? Sometimes we look for it that have been applied and liked by you and qualities accepted by majority.

Could you add more to the list ?

Circlophone VS P3A

Hello,

Has anyone built both circlophone and P3A and done some sort of AB testing ?

I am a great fan of Elvee's Circlophone and for me it provided the ultimate music experience with whatever the component I could fill in.

Recently built P3A, but it did not perform as good as Circlophone . I suspect there was some issue with my P3A set up but I did not do much investigation into it. in terms of part count p3A is simpler.

Wanted to check has anyone used both of these amps for long duration and could give their opinion 🙂

Not me - but I can advise that preferences are quite subjective. There are people who have built the P3A who love it more than anything else they have tried. Maybe if you are concerned your P3A is not working at it's best you should post into the P3A thread (there's a couple of them around). For me, I built on the P3A concept and devised a new amplifier that I think would be very hard to beat - but it is not that friendly for beginners, it's a more complicated construction because it uses more parts and you need the pcb (you can order cheap from Chinese providers).

TGM8 - an amplifier based on Rod Elliot P3a


You are also comparing Class AB (the P3A) with Class A (sliding bias) - for sure an interesting comparison !
