i have just built myself an mp3 station.
basically a p.c inside a custom built unit
i do alot of disco work so this i feel is the way forward
saves taking numerous amounts of cd`s along with me.
i have a consol which is smaller but looks like the old fashioned twin record decks that dj`s used to use.
i have an audio mixer on the left side of the unit which leaves me approx 2ft square on the right hand face of my unit.
obviously it being a p.c i need to run a monitor as well.
i dont want to be taking along a normal monitor because i want to cut down on room.
my question is this..
can i use an old laptop and remove the screen and wire the monitor directly to my monitor connection terminal
if so would anyone know what the wire config is
many thanx all

Nope, Sorry
Any type of bare bones LCD panel (whether it be a replacement for a monitor, laptop screen or oem model) requires a controller card to run it (some of which are pci cards). Do a search on the forums for lcd controller cards and you'll find out what you need. It would probably be easier for you to buy an older LCD monitor (14") of of e-bay and attach that to your rig. Keep in mind some of the newer lcd monitors can be directly attached to a flat surface so your could even make a "fold away" screen like a laptop has and it would be larger!!

I took my old laptop apart and unfortunatly the LCD connector was quite frail (It normally lives in the Laptop case) and, well, its not a D connector that you have on a monitor - rather something else much smaller.
You can get a LCD monitors that are small these days, even touch screens which could be an advantage in your low light DJ situation. I think you can even just get the LCD without the plastic enclosure etc...
Great idea that, good luck with it.
