Good evening from Belgium.
I have a pair of Focal Chorus 816V where the right tweeter went silent.
I guess it died or, if I am more lucky, something in the cross-over got broken.
As the thing is lost anyway and there seems here no commercially viable option around to have it fixed, I was thinking of giving it a try myself.
I was wondering though, I do not find pictures or descriptions of how to disassemble. I guess it is a matter of removing woofer, mid-range and getting that way to the cross-over and tweeter. But maybe there are people here around that have the experience and are willing to share ?
Also, but maybe that's too early, it looks like the original tweeter is not available anymore. Someone experience with 'acceptable' replacements ?
Any guidance is much appreciated.

If it is like the profiles, the crossover is behind the woofer. Access to tweeter via mid woofer. Have fun, but be careful with the screws. Easy to break the press board.
Hey,
I meanwhile carefully removed the midtones. The wiring to the tweeter has a connector that I could open and find out the tweeter is burned indeed. Resistance infinity.
No screws or whatsoever to remove the tweeter though. In an other thread someone was speaking about a focal key to remove it ? Any details on that ? Any other suggestion to have it gently removed ?
As an aside, the crossover is *not* behind the woofer as far as I can see. The wiring suggests it is just behind the connectors. Didn't search yet in detail, as currently it does not matter (yet).

Can you get a flash light and mirror in there to see the tweeter fixings. If the bolts heads have star shaped centres (not flat head or Philips screws) then they may be torx bolts but if the star has a raised cylinder in the middle you may need a special too, these are used on cars by manufacturers so you local auto factors may have them.

Without (more common) - M5 / 5mm a2 stainless steel TX/Torx csk/countersunk machine screws / bolts | eBay
If the head is hexagonal then you need Allen keys

Can’t see a crew anywhere on that. Thought it was in the boss at the top but expanding the picture just shows a plane surface, but looks like lots of glue so may be glued in only.
At a guess the special tool may be a split tube that fits around the wires and into the central hole to push the tweeter through the front, just a thought? As the tweeter is dead then you could try this with a suitably sized Philips screwdriver I guess but don’t blame me if it goes all wrong. An alternative is that there looks like there are two small notches on the front that you could get a tool in to pull the tweeter out from the front, thus may be more plausible.
There is a picture on here of the tweeter and mounting, looks like you will need a direct replacement as it looks like it is designed specifically for the mount. And confirms that it looks like the tweeter is pushed in from the front I think.

Yeah ... wondering how to get the alu L shaped part fitting the tweeter from the box ... There was an other thread (Can anyone help me with this tweeter removal? Focal Chorus 836V) apparently on a very similar model. But not sure how the guy managed ...
If you have an old credit/store card you could try making something to go in the indents on the front and lowly work side to side (or make two). Think if it is plastic it should reduce damage to the front plate. Or if you have those tools for opening phones/laptops etc, they may work, or as I said push out front the rear where the wires come through.
How big is that? Could you fit a small Scanspeak Be there? 🙂

About 40mm diameter. Why would one do that ? I am checking (via France again) if I can't get hold of an original tweeter.
