WTB Dipole AMTs

Wanted to buy
I know AMTs are popular, but are you sure this is what you want?
Personally I would only use AMT for an outdoors speaker against rain and wind. Very clinical sound with a hint of plastic.
Without a back chamber you would most likely not be able to cross very low. My TPL-150, without horn and with back cover, was good down to 1800Hz maybe, preferrably 2000Hz. I would guess 2300-2500Hz without the back cover, and it did sounded nicer in the upper most frequencies in open baffle, but not as nice as I am used to with Raal or compression drivers.

Thanks for that Rewind, that’s very interesting to hear about the comparison with the TPL 150. I have heard those and know they sound really good. I need a dipole tweeter to cover about 3Khz and up. The GRS PT2522 planar would be a cheap option, but I don’t know how they compare to the more expensive options . . .

A good ribbon would be nice !

From some very crude and unscientific testing many years ago, my vintage pair sounded best to me around 1.8kHz using an LR 24 x-over. I was very pleased with the sound. Around the same time I played around with a pair of coaxial compression drivers and thought they were worst thing I ever heard.

Ah yeah, £168 shipping to the UK ! 😡. That’s ridiculous for what must be a relatively small package. I’m sure I could arrange it for a third of that price from this end.
Not a small package! I got two free headphones in the package as a bonus.
Most importantly, have you tried to hold the tweeter with one hand? They work as dumbbell set.

Most planars come as 8 ohm, and are dipole by design. Not amt though.
