Hi to you guys!
Is there anyone that knows how to dimension an LC power supply filter?
Charles Hansen? Nelson Pass?
Thank you all!!!

Hi,
try "choke regulated", it may find you some links. A post recently referred to a good site that had all the design data.

you could try download Duncans PSU designer and model it.
I think typically Nelson suggests 2mH for the L.

On the Pass Labs forum there is a thread, SON choke input filter?
giving the basic formulia L(henries)= E(volts)/I(miliamps)
But it`s easier to use Duncans power designer software it`s
real easy to learn.

I find designing LC filters quite an intuitive process. I use a circuit simulator capable of inmediately producing new bode plots in response to any circuit change (the good old Electronics Workbench) and I play with L, C, and ESR values until I get the desired (non-peaking) frequency response. Note that modelling inductor and capacitor ESR values is fundamental in order to obtain consistent results, because filter resonance damping depends entirely on these resistances.
Hi Eva,
I can vaguely remember learning about resconant frequency of power supplies. The idea is to avoid resconance in the audio spectrum isnt it? Do you know what the formulas are for this?

Hi Stefano,
impressive reading. In the pass forum there also has been a thread on which chokes to use, and some practical calculations.
