Hi!
I am interested in making a volume control with push buttons (momentary contact switches) for instrument level signals. I would like it to have LEDs in a row to show the level or a display showing numbers (1-?). I found this info about the max5486 here:
http://www.maximintegrated.com/en/products/analog/data-converters/digital-potentiometers/MAX5486.html
But I have some questions about this chip.
1) will the max5486 work for instrument level signals?
2) there are 32 tap points. Why are there only 5 LEDs?
3) is there a better way to do what I want to do?
I also found this premade circuit:
http://www.tauntek.com/irvc2-ir-master-with-lcd-for-remote-volume-control.htm
But It might be overkill. Any help is welcome! Thanks!
