Hi, Iam working on a digital display unit which can perfom the following;
...write a two line word such as ' WELLCOME TO AFRICA'
...move the word at a high speed i.e shifting either to the left or to right
....display time and then alternate at different speeds
the problem am having is that I can't really find the controller the perform the function. May one with idea of the pic assist me.

Consider Atmel AVR chips, since they can be programmed with a parallel port and a few resistors - no need to build (or buy) a programmer. Google for "AT90S8515" or "AT90S2313" and "LCD", or just AVR and LCD, and various projects will show up.
