diesis solitaire

Hi, I'm looking at a pair of diesis solitaire and wondering what might have happened to the bass unit and surround (image attached), anyone have an idea?

It can't be original; I'd remember, I had a pair.

It was respected design at the time.
I am pretty sure the original had a paper cone or coated paper cone possibly a SEAS unit. I do not believe it would have had a with whizzer cone.

I suspect the whizzer coned item in the picture is a replacement for the original.

Do you know if the tweeter works or is even connected?

Thanks for that. I've never seen that modification before. I suppose, as you say, it doesn't bode well for the tweeter. I'll avoid.
