I was reading a thread that mentioned removing the antiglare layer on the lilliput to get more light. I did this using the method specified here http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=66042&perpage=10&highlight=&pagenumber=3
(hope that link works)
I can't get my screen to work anymore now. When I turn it on it goes dark but that's it. Did I possibly remove the wrong layer? I tried setting it back on to no avail. I reseated all of the connection. One of the fcc got a little funky but I checked it with my multimeter and it seemed to be ok. Can't find anything else wrong yet, looking for help.
Any thoughts? *scratching head*

I believe you have removed a polarizing layer which is essential for the lcd to work. The liquid crystal doesnt block or allow light due to an electric signal but rather alters its polarity.
I would have thought that simply laying the layer back onto the screen would fix the problem but it seems that it doesnt. Make sure to lay the screen back on in the exact orientation that it was when you removed it. not backwards or slanted. If that doesnt work i believe the screen may be ruined.
Good luck

Maybe not....
I was just playing with it somemore, seeing it that was the polarizer or not. It still seems to make no difference, BUT I think I might have found something. It's no less encouraging news though. It seems that when I put pressure on one part of the ffc, it flickers a bit. The ffc comes off a small control board and then runs along the bottom of the display making connections along the way. If I push on it at the first set of connection it flicks with various lines etc. The ffc hangs off the LCD a little bit down the entire length and it is quite possible that I caught it on something. Looks like I might have gotten is seperated from the LCD some. hmm....
