Diamond Audio D3 600.1 Protect?

Hi my friend has a diamond audio d3 600.1 that he was using to push a 15" Kicker L7 with. I helped him install everything and tune everything and everything was tuned correctly (gains) using a SMD DD-1. I know for a fact that the L7 is a dual 2 ohm sub so it would be wired down to 1 ohm total and would be given the full 600 watts (kind of low wattage for that sub but still sounded pretty good).... Long story short, about 3 months later he told me the amp amp would now just turn on for about a second and then right back off. I then took the amp from him now to bench test it using a battery and it does the same thing with no rca's or speaker plugged in. When I opened up the amp itself, the two larger caps i noticed were bulged and there was some fluid of some sort leaking from the top of one of them and the residue was on the backplate and the other one was just bulged. The ratings for these caps are 63v and 6800uF. He bought replacements from eBay (ordered from a trusted seller) and I changed those out. I wasnt expecting that to exactly fix the problem but I was expecting something else to happen and now the amp still does the exact same thing.
Sorry for it being so long, just wanted to explain to get as much help as possible... Thanks in advance!
