Denon DAP 5500 + phono preamplifier

This is my first post in this forum, so first of all, hello to everyone. Question from newbie so please be patient and I would be grateful for help. For the first time I will deal with a little bit better equipment and not an integrated amplifier. The Denon DAP-5500 (paired with two monoblocks POA-6600) preamplifier that does not have a phono input, do I understand correctly that I can use any of the analog inputs to connect an additional phono preamplifier ? So I plug preamp to preamp, this is how it should look like ..?
Regards!

hmm there is no dedicated cd input in Denon DAP 5500, looking at the back of it, which connection could I use to hook up this type of phono preamp please? sorry I'm just getting myself familiar with all this stuff so I appreciate if you point me in the right direction so i don't damage anything.

Well you would be better using the CD input as from what I see Rega

Phono outputs over 300mv this will overload the line 150mv input ,there are two versions of the Rega Phono.

I don't think this pre has an input labelled "CD". Line 1,2 have an input sensitivity of 1v when "source direct" is engaged and tape 1,2 have a sensitivity of 150mV when "source direct" is off. No chance a phono stage with 300mV can overload the 150mV inputs due to the high supply voltage. At very worst the volume control may be forced into a less ideal part of its range.

Without examining the circuit in detail it seems "source direct" determines whether a gain of 16.5db or 0db will be applied to the input signal.

In short the phono stage may be connected to either the Tape or Line inputs. It will certainly sound better through the line inputs (just a buffer follower) but the gain may not be sufficient.

For this preamp the ideal match would be a phono stage with a 1v output. Not sure such a device is easily available, although simple to diy.

Thank you for the explanation. When you said 'It will certainly sound better through the line inputs' does it mean it will work but rubbish or it will at least as good as build in phono in let's say DAP 2500? I did not expect this to be a complicated process so any other advice will be appreciated 🙂

Is any Denon DAP 5500 owner here who successfully using a typical phono stage such as rega, vincent etc?
