So, as f i did not have enough going on, I have started an active crossover based on the Xenover articles and the DCB1. MY question concern level control for the individual filters. Where do i place the pot that will allow for level adjustment and still maintain central volume control.
right in front of final output buffer of each leg
that way you can use highish value (50K) for pot
for legs set to max ( without need for atten.) either do not use pot , or short in-out pins permanently

If using 1st order filter, pot goes in front of ouput buffer on high pass and takes place of pulldown resistor on low pass? Using fets at Idss, so offset pot not part of equation. Could be misunderstanding you or not making sense. I specialize in both.
see example
A1 is input buffer
A2,A3,A4 are output buffers of their respective legs
you see where pots are situated
for buffers and other buffer cells use whatever your poison is ......
btw - there you can see that guys from Elektor were cap-lovers .......
