Dayton speakers - XO design RS28F & RS225P-4

I have an extra pair of Dayton RS28F tweeters, and 4 Dayton RS225P-4 mid/woofers laying around. I was thinking about making a TW surround for my HT, but am open to a TWW design as well. The problem is that I couldn't find any XO designs for these drivers. Does anyone know of any designs using these drivers? I can design a simple XO, but not phase correction, shunts, zobel, etc. I am open to TW or TWW, or will even consider adding a mid to make it TMWW. I just need a XO design, and don't think that I can learn how to design XO's at my current age (early 50's). Thanks in advance, J😕

There are a few designs.

You may want to search over on the Parts Express Tech Talk forum. One of the forum members has a design.

Hi!

Dayton provides FRD and ZMA files for all their drivers. Plop them into XSim (free) and try it yourself. 🙂

Best,

Both of those drivers are fantastic performers and quite well behaved. The RS225 has some unique T/S parameters in this price range in that it provides a fairly compact volume but has the ability to go pretty low and has great 7mm of xmax and is priced extremely well relative to a similar offering from Scandinavia. It has a peak out in the 3k range that you may need to put a trap at. I think used in a WTW or TWW would be great to get the sensitivity up - however you have the 4ohm version and most amps cannot handle 2ohm loads if parallel tied. You will need to run them in series and end up with 8ohms but reduced sensitivity so will need more amp voltage to drive them. However, cone excursion is reduced and so will HD. The RS28 is an excellent flat response tweeter that is smooth and easy to integrate.

There is a design by SpeakerScott called the DIYRM-A that uses the RS28 and RS180P. That is a slightly smaller woofer but may be a place to start with the XO.
