Dayton 12" HF sub box

I'm sorry if this is a post that comes through a lot. I did do a search and as usual it pulled up a bunch of useless unrelated information. Anyways. I'm building a sealed enclouse for my Dayton 12" HF and I wondered what sizes some of you may have used that you enjoy. I did have some trouble with winisd, whenever i put in all the specs it kept giving me an error so I took some out and it said I should build a 2.03 cubic foot box. So for now I'm thinking I'll go with 2 cubes and stuff her with polyfill. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks! Oh and its mostly for music so sq is my main focus.

If you stuff it up, it will act like a larger box.

You could build 1.5 cu.ft and stuff it up with 2 pounds of polyfill.

You could also keep it at 2 cu.ft fully stuffed, it will just act as a larger box and you'll get more low bass.
 
With mine in a sealed box of three cubic feet it sounds lovely. I assume that with a sealed box size is not that important and that bigger is better if you can keep it braced. If you do mode it enter in a number ike 10000 cubic feet to simulate infinite baffle and realize that that is the best reponse you can look forward to.

Bruce, nothing wrong with WinISD, it's just a bit picky in that it won't allow you to enter TS params that conflict, which often occurs when values are measured rather than calculated. Have a look at the help pages in WinISD - it tells you the specific order to enter in the params, so that you don't get those conflicts. You have to let it calculate some of them even if they are slightly different to published specs.

It's worth persisting with WinISD pro as it gives you a lot of useful information that most free programs don't.

Once you have the parameters in ok, then its a matter of choosing the desired Q, most likely ranging from 0.5 - 0.707 and WinISD will work out the net volume. If you are using a Linkwitz transform, then you can make it 1 cu ft (although bigger is better).
 
Mine has about 2 cubic feet, I experimented with adding 1 lb stuffing, and it sounded better.

I suggest ordering it through acoustic-visions, it looks like the same price and shipping origin as partsexpress, but he very kindly offers his advice over the instant messenger link on his site.

WinISD will not model rediculisly large Vb's correctly.... To see what the infinite baffle response will look like use only the minimum value of volume which would be considered infinite baffle(some multiple of VAS which I dont remember)
