I'm currently under Cal the Cleavership, therefore can not respond to the non-pc 2d word of the title in your link.

My abfav period on Korsou are the Tambu weeks in Januari.
Tambu is a traditional slave thing, held at deep night in the downwind part of the isle.
At night, because it was prohibited for years by the Catholic representatives* on the island, who branded it as heathen.
The Chapi (end of a pikaxe shovel, the standard-issue slave tool then) is most dominant in Tambu.

(* not exactly coincidence that 3 home-base cloisters/monasteries of those are where I did highschool, even got tutored on isleware by R&Return nuns once a year)

I offer a thousand bucks to any white chick who can do these checkers-board moves, and this example is just 1st base.
(I haven't seen a single one in many decades)

Not only is the dance the Lindy Hop but Whitey's Lindy Hoppers are the dance group featured in your first link (named after manager Herbert White).

Frankie Manning was one of the original members: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankie_Manning
He helped make the dance popular in the '30s and taught it in the '80s in Sweden. He passed away in '09 aged 94.

My wife forgets I'm boss when we're 'dancing',she learning, I've been at it for 35yrs and I've found bouncing her / any partner (lightly) off a wall in a spin turn (Waltz) brings 'her' position back into line.
She's doing well with her feet though and now she's stopped hacking my shins / toes she gets to wear her 'twinkle toes'.
