Hi Dan,
I mailed your sales dept, but no reply.
Are there going to be any more tempests ? Reason I ask is I bought 3 with a view to getting a fourth later. Now they are unavailable anywhere.
Cheers!
Rob

this may have something to do with it:
Here's some basic info. More will be following shortly (no, I won't specify an exact date):
Complete product lines:
Shiva. Two inch diameter voice coil, overhung design, 14.5mm one way Xmax. 10", 12", 15" sizes, dual 8s and dual 4s available. Basic entry level SQL sub, low cost, easy to use, good performer.
Tempest. 2.5 inch diameter voice coil, overhung design, 18.5mm one way Xmax. 10", 12", 15" sizes, dual 8s, dual 4s and dual 2s available. All around banger. Will play deep, good SQ, get loud, budget SQL weighted to more SPL than SQ.
Maelstrom. Three inch diameter voice coil, overhung design, 24mm one way Xmax. 12", 15", 18" sizes, dual 4s and dual 2s available. Monster big driver. Handle lots of power. Real SPL monster, high BL (29 N/A), high stroke, still retain some decent SQ.
Koda. Two inch diameter voice coil, XBL2 motor, 18.5mm one way Xmax. 10", 12", 15" sizes, dual 8s and dual 4s. Basic entry level SQL sub, low cost, easy to use, better SQ than the overhungs with output around the Tempests. Like the current Koda 10s.
Brahma. 2.5" diameter voice coil, XBL2 motor, 26mm one way Xmax. 10", 12", 15" sizes, dual 4s and dual 2s. midline SQL sub, competitive price, similar to the current Brahmas in SQ and SPL.
Tumult. Three inch diameter voice coil, XBL2 motor, 34mm one way Xmax. 12", 15", 18" sizes, dual 4s and dual 2s. Top of the line in output, great SQ. Like the current Tumults, just more options.
That's the starting lineup. And I'll post more details when it's appropriate, so no begging...
Dan Wiggins

Good info, thanks spots25.
The question is do I sell my 3 tempests and replace with 4 of something available, or buy 1 second hand, knowing they're 'out of date'.... 🙁

Put them in boxes and start breaking them in... start the sales process and make enuff cash to get Tumalts 🙂
How are you doing Rob... you haven't been around much lately...

Off topic alert!
Hey, Andy. If you're building a new system I might be interested in buying the HD3Ps from your KLS 3 golds.
We now return you to your normal programming...

Hi pinkmouse,
good memory Sorry. Another thread mentioned I have designed my new house to incorporate a sub-bass horn to augment the KLS3's. I can then remove the added mass to lower bass.

Hi Dave,
I'm doing ok - been playing with hi-eff stuff recently. Will post info when I'm finished and happy with them...
Your maths is a little wonky there. I don't think 3 second hand tempests would bring in enough to cover buying 1 tumult over here, let alone a pair.
Andrew T - not selling anything at the moment. Just looking at options. The best one being finding one more tempest to match my 3.
Cheers,
Rob
And a sneak peak at my new toys in the making:
PD107 10" mid, beyma 380 cd on a td250 horn. (Did someone say dynamics ?😉 ) Will sit on top of a jbl 15" (sealed) - jbl 80 - 250Hz, PD 250 - 1200 ish Hz, horn above, tempests below atm...
Cheers,
Rob
Am looking for a jbl 2226G in need of a recone if you know of any Al🙂 (got one, need to make a pair)

😕 Why do you need to sell anthing? From the post by spots25 it looks as though the Tempest is still in production.
My mate Pete had some, and he certainly has working models, check out his website:
Crystal Pro Audio
The PDs are great drivers, and paired with the JBLs, you sbould have a really dynamic system. I don't recognise the compression driver from the numbers, but I'm sure I would if I saw it. 😉

Hi Richie,
From the looks of it that was a new lineup - the x-max figure is different to my tempests, and it reads like they're not out yet.
Al, I'll send him a question. I saw he had 1 on his site, but I'd rather get a pair reconed at the same time - hopefully a better match ?
The PD is 99dB sens - I'm only adding a 6dB high pass on it as the bafflestep and sealed roll off do the other 18.
Did anyone mention amp noise😉
Cheers,
Rob
Ahh Rob I see now. Maybe contact 3dw or whatever they are called to see if they have a last one kicking around?

You have to put them in boxes before you sell them.(and maybe toss in a plate amp).. that will dramatically increase the value... and find 3 different buyers.

They're called mcaudio now, and stock Acoustic Elegance drivers instead of Adire.

Notice the 'stock expected' bit though 🙄

I'm not to sure about that in the UK Dave. Most 'audiophiles' look down on diy designs, and I've never seen a home built sub sell for more than the cost of the parts. This was the last 'custom' sub I saw trying to be sold:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118137
It would also mean buying 3 plate amps and a lot of hours labour (I've enough projects on the go at the moment😀 )
I think I'm best searching for a used Tempest. I've got a spare amp channel waiting - I'd have to upgrade my amps if I went with Tumults..
Cheers,
Rob

That can be a problem... it is slowly turning around thou as there becoms a realization that a good DIY (even bought from someone else) can represent WAY better value than out of the retail store.
