D1265 reg in NEC 3Xp CDROM

I have a new (old stock) NEC 3Xp CDROM that I want to use for CD transport. This is the older top loading predecessor of the 4X and 6X CD-ROM drives discussed in other threads on this forum.

The 3Xp uses the same CXD2510Q chip as its later cousins and has the same display and operating button arrangement. Major differences are the transport mechanism and the power supply.

The 3Xp requires a single 12 volt 1 amp external supply which is taken, via a switch, to two IC regulators. One of these is a 5 pin LM2575T5.0 regulator and I have downloaded the data sheet for that. Has anyone had any experience with this regulator which I think was designed for switch mode power supplies?

The second regulator is 3 pin and marked simply D1265. I cannot find any data sheet or information on it. Can anyone help in identifying this regulator or provide a data sheet?

I already have available a low noise 12 volt liner power supply to replace the plug pack that cam with the CDROM and so I guess my overriding question is whether there will be a value in upgrading these onboard regulators.

Any helpful comments would be appreciated

Oops! D1265 is not a regulator

I should have looked closer. The D1265 "chip" I thought was a regulator is labelled Q601 on the PCB¨. It is a transistor of some type in an all plastic 3 pin TO220 size package.

I would still like to have the data sheet if anyone has it.
