Hi there!
I recently bought a Sony CDP-670, nothing special in there, but I´d like to have some infos on the CXD2550, must be a Digital Filter, its lokated between the DSP and the DAC´s, 2xPCM56.
It´s was interesting to compare it to my CDP-M75 (TDA1541a, 4xoversampling). The PCM56 seem to have much more controlled low frequency reproduction, but I have compared them only as a hole system...
It´s also interesting as the CDP-670 states on its front that it´s 8times oversampling, in PCM56´s datasheet, the DAC is only suitable for 4times oversampling......
Beside them, it should be no miracle to replace the PCM56´s with a TDA1541A...
I love it, really, the TDA1541A... Cannot say that any newer sigmadelta-DAC sounds better... currently it sounds a little bit harsh mostly due to the usage of OPA2134 in the I/V...
So, back to the main thing, would be nice if anyone can provide me infos on the older Sony CD-Players...
Wish you a happy new year! PROSIT!

Judging from the information in the AD1868 datasheet, the CXD2550P looks very similar to the CXD2551P in that they both are 18pin DIP and at least some of the key pins are in the same position so I will proceed on the basis that they are pin compatible.
According to the diagram showing the CXD2550P mated to the AD1868 in the AD1868 datasheet, the CXD2550P can run at 4Fs or 8Fs. At 8Fs and 48bit slots bitclock is around 8.5MHz, well within the capabilities of the PCM56.
If you want to use the TDA1541
pins 2 and 18 will have to be pulled low to select 4Fs (pin2) and 16 bit data(pin18). In 4Fs mode pin 16 is L and R serial data, pin17 is LRCLK and pin 13 is bitclock. As the above is in Sony format (NOT Sony/BB) some logic will be needed to convert this to I2S. LRCLK will have to be inverted and the data will have to be MSB justified to one bitclock position after the transtion of LRCLK. Alternatively save yourself the aggravation and insert a TDA1543A which Sony format ready.

Wow, thanks a lot!
OK, no TDA1543 isn´t my first choice... build one on the fast way, I didn´t like the sound, maybe if implemented good it does so, but TDA1541a is more symphatic to me 🙂
Btw, format of cxd2550 must be compatible with my df1706, is it?
Then I can stick them together with 2 PCM1702´s or even with my TDA1541A.... and again, I had to read datasheets....,
Thanks, and a happy new year!

hi people. Sorry to break in your thread but could you please help me out too and see my thread about my sony CDP with CXD chip.
I want to be able to feed a commercial DAC (ART DI/O) and it doesnt have any ind of digital outs. The chip according to the data sheet of the chip has a digital out pin, which I dont know what kind of dig. signal it gives or anything about it.
Please see my thread.

Hi everybody!
I'm also interested about CXD2550 datasheet, or CXD2551P datasheet if ii's similar to 2550. Please send me your datasheet.
My address: tanminh_vns@yahoo.com
btw, is CXD2550 compatiple with CS8412?
Thanks for your help!
