It's insane that they didn't have a good fire suppression system like Halon on board. I'll bet something like that had been recommended for years, and someone kept saying it's too expensive, we'll get that next year. And now they're going to spend many times as much restoring (or faking) the ship, and no doubt will manage to find the bucks for proper fire protection.

They should make the little creep who did this clean up after the fire .... for starters.
They could have sunk it in the Thames, except that isn't deep enough I don't think.
Now I'm all sad again, and I'm not kidding.

That would not have helped at all. It's a wooden structure built and sealed with tar and resin. It was undergoing restoration, and so there were probably lot's of air leaks too.It's insane that they didn't have a good fire suppression system like Halon on board.
