Hi,
I want to build a custom "Marshall 18 Watt - TMB" amplifier. My idea is just to have the TMB channel, plus a passive Effect Loop and Reverb circuit.
I decided to add the Effect Loop right after the first pre-amp stage, and the Reverb Fender-like circuit right.
I plan to use a solid state rectifier instead of a tube. I also want to add a power scaling. This is not in the circuit, but I have no idea how the London Kits looks like.
Could you please have a look to the circuit, and let me know if it makes any sense for you?
Thanks

Normally an 18W TMB's FX loop is inserted between the last pre-amp stage and PI, so as not to alter the preamp gain structure. Personally, I don't think reverb is beneficial to an 18W, but you could also insert that before the PI.
For simple power scaling just look up the VVR or VRM.

I also think that an FX loop right after the first stage is pretty useless. What effect would you run before a distorting preamp? Besides, the output signal is not really lo-Z, and it will probably too hot for guitar devices. Also from a practical point of view, you can run the effects right before the amp as well then.
Agree on the placement of the loop since you need preamp distortion before the loop for it to have value. I return the output of a (parallel) loop to the "other" side of the PI like the Marshall does with it's "other" channel. I do it for phase reasons.
Hi,
Thanks for the advise.
I think I will use this FX Loop from Tube Town Kit Serieller FX-Loop LND150 - Tube-Town GmbH
They advise to put it after the EQ and before the Master
