Hi there,
I am now purchasing the various components for my diy projector. It will be a custom job with MH light, OHP fresnel, 14" lcd, and projection lens from an epson projector.
The way my room layout is I can not build according to the box design with all the components on the horizontal plane but I want instead to build it like regular OHP design. (I know I should have bought an OHP but I want to go through the hassle of doing my own).
Any way, here is the question. By using this projection lens

Could I still mimic the head assembly for an OHP. I was thinking of positioning the lens correctly in the middle of a pyramide shape and then above the lens use a 45 degree mirror.
Can you use any regular projection lens or do you have to use "corrected" optics when are using a 45 degree mirror.
Will this setup work.
Thanks for you help.

Yep
That is exactly the design I am using but keep a couple of things in mind. You must find a way of handling the heat generated by the MH bulb. I am using two computer fans and a layer of heat blocking glass. Also keep in mind that it takes a lot of trail and error tinkering to get everything aligned correctly. Make sure you have easy access to all you components and can move them about easily.

Hey exipnos, my design and yours seem to be very similar. I am going for a horizontal rather than vertical design and a 15" LCD, but other than that we are doing the same thing. I would like to know what type of Metal Halide bulb and reflector you plan on using. I am using a bt28 400W Metal halide with a eliptical home made reflector. Also I am using a 7.5" lens with a 500mm focal point. I would be interested in hearing about your stuff. thanks
