Curve Tracer question

Hello everyone,

I'm want to buy my first curve tracer and I'm considering Madell CA4810A. I want a curve tracer that will be capable of testing various transistors including power mosfets. Is the CA4810A a good choice?

Thank you in advance!

Power MOSFETs should be tested with a pulse fixture -- Tektronix manufactured a device for this purpose for the 576 Series. I think that the white paper which TEK wrote on testing MOSFETs is still on their website, although the discrete MOSFET line was sold to Vishay.

Sorry for my lack of understanding with regard to this subject. I see the 4810A offers the ability to test Fets, is a pulse fixture still needed?
Also I see the 4810A is rated for 10 amps current, the IRF520 says it's a 9.2 amp device. If that's the case will I be limited to testing transistors that are no larger than the IRF520?

Thank you for giving me a crash course in curve tracers!
