CS8412 replacement

Well, the CS8412 was discontinued (it's not on the Crystal website), and my doubt is if there's any non-SMD S/PDIF receiver that I can use.
Sometimes I can get discontinued chips around here, like the TDA1541A, but when I ask for the CS8412 they look at me as if I was Ben Ladden.:whazzat:
Oh, and a search on the TI website gives hundreds of results...
Any idea?
Thanks guys.

Older CS8412 versions are flawed with errors that were corrected in rev. C or G ( sorry, pretty vague info but I really try to remember only the relevant info which is to use later revisions > the newer the better ). That's what I read in some document from Crystal I once stumbled on. I searched for old mail with Jocko who did know what the errors were but I don't have that mail anymore. I did a comparison some years ago and to be true I only remember that the newer version locked a lot better. From that I think *now* that the PLL was improved.

The problems were solved around 1996 or 1997.

I think it's even more difficult to get the Yamaha YM3623 nowadays.

Still have some unused YM3623's.... I prefer CS8412.
