I bought a CS4397 + CS8416 dual board DAC from Ebay. The DAC arrived very quickly but on visual inspection pin 2 was bent and soldered to pin 3.
The vendor claims this is a new design feature. To me it looks like an accident. But it turns out that the vendor is right and the DAC is set to operate in I2C mode
Can someone explain what the benefit of this is? Is there a better mode of operation so I can also use SACD?
Thanks
