How bad is a crack in my fresnel? It's about an inch long on the field fresnel & will be mostly covered by the fresnel frame. I don't think it's going to be too bad, but I am a little worried about it getting bigger.
my 3dlens 550 was cracked near the edges and had a corner chipped off when I got it. One of the ceacks was pretty bad. Luckily they were all outside of where I was going to cut it down, just barely. those 3Dlens fresnels are very thin and fragile compared to the 220 I got from diypc. I was afraid to cut the 550 on the table saw like I did the 220. So I cut it with my dremel w/ one of those little fiber wheels. It worked great.
Yeah, mine was the 550 from 3dlens too.... I hope I can keep the crack out of the way, but I'm afraid I won't... i think at the very worst it will just effect a very small area on the side of the screen. It's not like it's in the middle of the screen so i think i'll just live with it for now.
Yeah, that's a bummer. especially considering what the lens costs + shipping. I was a little pissed when I got mine, but since it didn't affect my application, I got over it. They should really take the package they send it in and put it in another slightly larger box with some packing bubbles or something. It costs alot and it's it's going around the world after all.

You don't focus on the fresnel, so a crack should have no effect on the image, unless a piece was actually missing.
