I recently picked up an interesting amp at a funky vintage instrument shop in Berlin. Well-built W. German tube PA circa 1960. Klemt Echolette M40. It seems to have some following among guitar players, but I'm more interested in making it a happening, sludgy, tube-y rig for mic-ing in the studio.
Interesting in ideas of how best to mod the input topology for bass use. Also want to increase the input impedance significantly to make my passive basses happy.
I'm modestly experienced working on amps, but not very. The amp has some nasty hum issues, but most of its original electrolytics are intact, so a recap is due before debugging that.
Anyway, any and all thoughts (or experience with this particular amp) would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Replace C5, C6, C27 and C32 for 47n at 400/630V the mains and output transformer may complain but pigs ears and silk purses come immediately to mind.
