Hi everyone
What connector do you guys use for an external psu?
I have about 10 individual rails resulting in 20+ wires that i need to feed into my dac.

I had a delightful chat with Wayne Colburn of Pass Labs, about external PSU connectors -- during the catered lunch at Burning Amp Festival 2019. Wayne agreed with me, that you definitely want a weird and unique connector for external power, so that NO OTHER piece of equipment in your city, uses that same connector. If true, then there is NO POSSIBILITY of plugging in the wrong cable and damaging the PSU or the audio gear or both. At Wayne's recommendation, I investigated the circular connectors made by Japan Aviation Electronics ("JAE"), and I found that I liked them very much. DigiKey carries JAE products, here is a brief selection. But please download the entire JAE catalog and look through it yourself, you may prefer a different line of connectors, for your own good reasons.

I like the AMP circular plastic connector series. It is conceivable someone else might have a same series 25-pin connector, but really consider that someone would have to have the sort of equipment that even uses them and decide to use the cord. But even that is simply covered. The mating halves of connector hold male and female pins. You can install either. SO mount some of the pins with gender reversed. Extremely unlikely th other gear has the same connector with the same reverse gender pins in the same holes. We used that trick in Molex connectors decades ago.
Why not use a DB25?
They even make ones with screw terminals 🙂

I'm a fan of the Y2M series of aviation / military connectors readily available on aliExpress, but if I recall correctly that series tops out at less than 25 pins. How about one of these 28mm diameter babies instead:

Circular connectors are best for this. If voltage is over 400v then use the bigger ones so the pins are spaced out more. If your over 1000 volt range definitely use the largest size and bare number of pins needed.

From all those connectors (and I used them all) probably the best connector system is the TE Connectivity AMP CPC Series 1.
Not the cheapest though.
Pins in the connectors are automatically isolated from each other by inserting them into holes, so no shrink wrapping needed and the quality of the crimp/solder can be easily inspected prior inserting into the connector.
Pins can get removed very easily with the pin removal tool Mouser #801-R5926, makes it very easy to change or add later additional wires.
Different pins are available for different size wires and wire isolation thickness (if you prefer to crimp), also different material (gold, tin), male and female, for crimping and soldering as well. Being able to do high voltage as well.
Check the catalog (attached) as there are different Series with sizes and number of pins available.
Use on the PSU chassis side female pins (no exposed pins to touch) and use male pins on the amp side chassis connector.
Can't reverse the cable as well.
