I post a subject about these "conductive polymer capacitors".
I was browsing the mouser catalog after having narrowed stuff a bit... I found some fun things.
The not fun one to start with, is that i wanted the
Sanyo OsCon 6svp120MV (MV serie) but I can't find it anywhere 🙁 .
It is a 6.3V 120µF 2780mA ripple @ 100kHz, 0.12tg 126µA DC Leakage. Quite outstanding, yes.
The easy to find replacement part is the Sanyo OsCon 6SVP100M.
6.3V 100µF 1810mA ripple 0.12tg 103µA DCl.
Nothing to write home about... And in the same package than the MV serie.
Browsing mouser for replacement parts, I found something fun:
Have a look at the 94SVP107X06R3C6 par grom Vishay/Sprague. It is....
6.3V 100µF 1810mA ripple 0.12tg 103µA DCl.
If the ref looks like the 100µF Sanyo part, the specs are exactly the same. So I suppose these are the same!
Good to know, because some can be sourced from some suppliers, others from another... You avoid several orders. Same package too... (and same package name).
Having said that, I would query your opinion about:
Corner/Dubilier, United Chemicon, Nichicon and Kemet conductive polymer capacitors. If I remember correctly, Panasonic FK specs are way under.
They are a bit cheaper for some (or may be the same price or a bit more expensive), are easyer to find, and show incredible specs, especially the Kemet ones!!! - and the Cornel/Dubilier ones, that are cheaper. United chemicon and nichicon stand with higher ESR, lower ripple, higher leakage.

6.3V 120µF 30.2 µA DCl 12mOhms and 4.6 A ripple
From the spec point of view, these kick the *** of our good old Sanyo's SVP-M . It's the same kind of dielectric and should behave a similar way.
So what do you think? Are OsCons still superior in some way?

Well, Oscon SVP Series are conductive polymer too, so spec's are almost the same as every other conductive polymer cap from other brands. Have some nichicon PXA and PXE, but seriously, I haven't performed any measurements nor did I hear any difference to ordinary OS-CON's. Implemention matters more. I got my PXA from an ebay seller, search for solid electrolyt(-ic). cheers, Markus

The point is that concurrent caps (not sanyo oscons, but other polymer ones) are cheaper and more widely available.
However they don't seem to really perform the same, I had a look at some Panasonic ones that (from a datasheet point of view) were very disappointing, far from the performance of oscons. And these ones, from a datasheet point of view, should outperform them.
I'm giving them a try anyway. Will see if there's any difference between sanyo ones and these ones. I guess not really.
The other thing I wanted to point was that instead of searching sanyo os cons (ie: for replacement) you may as well search Vishay oscons, as these are exactly the same (same manufacturer). And more widely available xD.
