I finally completed my CRT Projector project. My dad was a metal worker, and made the case for me, and i used old tubes and lenses from a defunct projection TV.
I kept modules lying around from older projos. I rewired and pieced them together using my knowledge in electronics.
What do you guys think?
the only problem is i cant get the damn corners to focus and converge. I have no convergence board, as i dont know how to build a modual or hook one up as i didnt have one, I just have an alighnment board that the yokes plug into that i got from the same tv the tubes came out of, it was an old 91 zenith 48"
How would i remedy this?

I have repaired crt projectors and trust me getting a convergence board to work that does not belong there is not an easy task. Take pics of the projector. Looks cool! Maybe I could help you with it.
Here is my problem.
despise the crappy camera, but here is almost dead on the problem. Convergence. How can i remedy this.
Its just the corners like this. "I.E the corner of the blue is more trapezoided in than the red, and than the green, causing this problem. just the corners though, in the middle, its perfect."
The only thing it does is scoot each tubes picture left or right, up or down, not resize or pincusion it.

well I think that you convergence problems in the corners are from that you need a curved screen. Older projection systems use curved crts so a curved screen is necessary.
I've got an old (dead) JBL here, no lens's but all the rest is here. Once I get my LCD working right I'll have a novabeam to get rid of.

Hi zardos,
what model is your novabeam? I could be interrested, if the tubes are in kinda good shape.

It's a 1A and they seem to be working fine, it's a pig to converge (especially with 270 pounds worth of bullmastiffs bumping it around Grrr) but when I'm bored I drag it out and play with it. The unit was not stored very well I'm afraid, the box was manufactured out of particle board and got damp, so it's a bit cruddy in spots. Luckily the tubes are mounted in a "rack" that has held them rigid and un moved. All the boards seem to be in good shape and the PJ works fine. I've found the wired in jumpers that get cut and resoldered to invert the picture for ceiling mounting. It focus's somewhere near 11 feet from the screen and puts up a 10 foot diagonal picture.

thats about what mine does, minus the jumpers.
BTW, the CRTs are flat. lens is curved, they usually are.
Anyone have an extra lens? as you notice the crack, and the fluid leaks out of that crack sometimes, but very little tho.
like you notice, that the corner is sorta bowed in on that lens picture, well, tha blue is bowed in to a certain extent, and the green is a little less bowed in, and the red is a little more bowed in on one corner, but less on the other, therefore throwing the whole convergence off in the corners.
