I have an Infocus LP425 DLP projector with a blown out bulb. It takes a 270W metal halide bulb and is rated at 500 lumens or so. It is possible to modifiy it to use a cheap 400W halogen like they used in their early projectors like a LP550? I know they are only rated at 150 lumens or so but since I never use it during the day I thought it might be doable. I have no idea if this would work but I thought I would ask anyway. Thanks.

Ebay have alot of infocus lamps all the time im sure u can find one easy for cheap. Try searching every possible way like part #, model #, and cross references if you know them. It will be worth your time if you can find one for less than retail.

To use a halogen lamp you would need to modify the powersupply completely. Is the lamp shattered or does it look ok ? If the lamp looks ok remove the backplate and check the partnumber of the powersupply. If it doesn't end with -69 you might have a broken powersupply and not a broken lamp.
